Prof. Gilad Rabina is a specialist in retinal diseases, a retina and cataract surgeon, a senior physician in the retina unit, in the ophthalmology division at the Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv and a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine of Tel Aviv University.
Prof. Rabina is a graduate of the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine, performed his residency in ophthalmology and eye diseases at the Ichilov Medical Center and completed his residency with distinction. Afterward, Prof. Rabina performed a fellowship in retinal surgery and retinal diseases at UCLA Stein Eye Institute, Los Angeles, ranked among the five leading eye institutes in the USA. After completing the fellowship, Prof. Rabina returned to Israel and has since worked as a senior physician and retina and cataract surgeon at the Ichilov Medical Center, Tel Aviv.
Prof. Rabina performs cataract surgeries and retinal surgeries including surgeries for epiretinal membranes (ERM), macular holes, retinal detachments and vitreous-cavity hemorrhages. In addition, Prof. Rabina performs diagnosis and treatments for retinal diseases such as diabetes, retinal degeneration (AMD), venous occlusions (BRVO, CRVO), vitreous detachment, retinal tears and also performs intraocular injections of Avastin, Lucentis, Eylea and Ozurdex and laser treatments for retinal tears, diabetes and secondary cataract.
Prof. Rabina is a leading researcher in the field of the retina and has written dozens of articles published in international journals in the field of ophthalmology, and his studies are presented frequently at conferences in Israel and abroad. In addition, Prof. Rabina serves as a reviewer of professional literature in 10 leading scientific journals in the field of ophthalmology and is a member of the Israel Ophthalmological Society and the Retina Club in Israel and of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and The American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS).
