Who Prof. Mimouni has arrangements with
Prof. Mimouni has arrangements with the health funds Leumit and Meuhedet — through their supplementary insurance schemes (שב"ן) — and with the insurance companies Direct Insurance, Ayalon and Clal Insurance.
He is not in the Maccabi or Clalit network, and their supplementary plans do not cover and do not reimburse a private consultation or operation with him.
Prof. Michael Mimouni heads the Cornea Unit in the Department of Ophthalmology at Rambam Health Care Campus and serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Technion Faculty of Medicine. In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Israeli Cornea Society on behalf of the Israeli Ophthalmological Society. In 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 he was ranked among the leading ophthalmologists in Israel in the field of cornea, according to the Duns 100 ranking, which is based on a comprehensive survey of ophthalmologists in Israel.
Prof. Mimouni completed his medical studies at Tel Aviv University and his residency in ophthalmology at Rambam, within the leading "Atidim" research programme, which earned him awards for excellence from Rambam Health Care Campus and from the Israeli Ophthalmological Society. He also took part in specialist training funded by the European and international societies for cataract and refractive surgery.
Prof. Mimouni broadened his areas of expertise in a two-year fellowship at an international centre in Toronto, Canada, focusing on cataract, cornea, dry eye and laser vision correction, supported by prestigious scholarships from Rambam, the Israel Medical Association and the American Physicians Fellowship for Medicine in Israel. During his fellowship he worked alongside leading experts, gained experience in the most innovative techniques of corneal transplantation and eye surgery, and was engaged in developing advanced treatments for dry eye.
In research, Prof. Mimouni is engaged in scientific and clinical research in the fields of cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, refractive surgery and dry eye, with over 250 publications in medical journals. In addition, he serves as an editor and reviewer for leading medical journals, and in 2020 he won the Technion's Outstanding Lecturer award. He is an active member of leading professional societies in Israel and abroad, and actively teaches the next generation of eye specialists.

- Maayan Medical Center, 10 Marconi, Haifa: there he sees patients once a fortnight on Sundays, privately and under the supplementary insurance schemes of Leumit and Meuhedet.
